We work very well together. Our basic facts knowledge is great.

Kereru children love to dance

We were so lucky on Friday to have Kate from the Footsteps Dance Company teach us a new dance. The dance was called Cartoon Characters. There were lots of funny moves in it.

Tokelau week at Sacred Heart week

Tokelau week began with a liturgy and dance from our Tokelau community. We were so proud of the children especially those from Kereru.
Children in Kereru have started planning masks and our class costumes. We are going to use the Aesops Fable 'The Contest between the Wind and the Sun ' for our theme. The children are choosing either to make a sun or a wind mask. We have had a lot of fun planning and designing our masks. We can't wait to make them.

Grandparents Day

Thank you to all our Grandparents for being part of the day. In Kereru we think you are all pretty amazing. Thank you for the way you share your lives and gifts with us. You play a special part in the way we learn and live our faith, you love us unconditionally. May God bless you and watch over you always.

Wearable arts

In term 4 Kereru along with the rest of the school are going to create our our wearable art. Next term we will decide on our costume. The whole class will help plan, design and make the costume. Once we have decided we will be asking for help. Hutt intermediate came to show us their costumes.

Dress up day in Kereru

Aren't our costumes amazing. We all had so much fun dressing up and then making a short movie with our team leaders.

Special visitor to Kereru

Catherine from Caritas visited Kereru. She helped us think about our gifts and consider how we could share them with others. We learnt what Compassion and Empathy means and what these two Gifts look like.

Greetings from Mrs Havell

I am excited to be teaching the children in Kereru from now until the end of the year. I was pleased that I could meet Mrs Atkinson and Mrs Mooney and they could tell me all about the class and where they are in their learning. My husband and I recently moved from Christchurch where we had lived for 23 years and we now love living in Petone. Before coming to Sacred Heart  I had previously taught a Year 3/4 class at St Joseph's School. I look forward to meeting you all and if I haven't already met you please introduce yourselves.

Writing Time

Today in writing we worked on Awesome Adjectives. We know that adjectives are describing words and they make our writing more interesting. We had lots of different pictures and we had to brainstorm adjectives for them.
What fantastic vocabularies we have in Kereru!

Tennis

This week and last week, Kereru has been learning tennis skills with Tom. We have really enjoyed it and have learnt heaps of new skills!

Discovery Time

One of our favourite parts of the week is Discovery on Friday. This is a chance for us to be creative, inventive and work together with others. It is amazing what the students can come up with! Here are some photos of our creative Kererus.
